About Ashlee Hess, LCSW

Welcome! Allow me to briefly introduce myself as you embark on your therapy journey and look for the best fitting therapist for your goals and needs.

I’m one of those millennial therapists-but don’t worry, I seemed to have overcome the “always in crisis” stereotype for myself! I love my work and truly believe one of my purposes in life was to help others, and what better way to do that than as a therapist? I have grown A LOT in my own journey, but I still learn something new every day.

The most important things in my life are my faith, my family and friends, and my impact in the world. I nurture deep connections with those I love most and try to approach life with an optimistic lens. My free time is spent mostly with my husband who truly is my other half, and with our fur babies Ayla, Bandit, and Lynx(pictures of them below for your enjoyment.) You will definitely see Lynx in our sessions together, since he hired himself as my personal assistant and likes to micromanage me. My hobbies include lots of movement, whether that be the gym, pilates, or yoga, and trying adventurous activities with family and friends.

I wish you the best of luck on your wellness journey.

Professional Experience and Development

  • Upon graduating from Alvernia with a BSW, I began my first professional job as a Therapeutic Support Staff with Concern Professional Services in Fleetwood, PA. I worked there for one year, implementing behavior modifications with children ages 4-12.

  • While attending graduate school at Kutztown University, I worked part-time as a Family Support Worker at Child and Family First, a contracted agency with Berks County Children and Youth Services. For three years, I provided parenting education, casework services regarding mental health and substance abuse, as well as supervised visitation for parents and their children.

  • Once I graduated with my MSW, I worked as a licensed social worker at Haven Behavioral Hospital in Reading, PA for two years. In this setting I developed strong clinical skills and soon began my supervision journey to obtain my LCSW.

  • I met Kayla Schubert-Wirth in my efforts of finding a supervisor and she became my mentor and provided my supervision hours for my LCSW. She soon hired me as a therapist in her group practice in 2022 while I was still obtaining my clinical hours. I worked for her practice at Grit & Grace Psychotherapy until 2024.

  • I then worked at another group practice for one year until I ultimately decided that I wanted to start my own practice and finally be my own boss. That started in August 2025, and I registered my LLC in January 2026.

Certifications and Advanced Training

  • I have been a Certified EMDR Therapist since 2025 and received EMDR Basic Training in 2022 through THRIVE Training and Publications, LLC

  • Pending certification for Somatic Therapy Foundations through Evergreen, with training through PESI.
